
Downtown Detroit Art and Architecture Walking Tour

From art-deco skyscrapers & modernist masterpieces to large-scale sculptures & non-traditional canvases Downtown Detroit is full of jaw-dropping art & architecture. On this two-hour tour, you’ll explore some of the great contributions of both prolific architects and emerging artists while our expert guide puts it all in context along the way. You’ll visit The Belt Art Alley, see the works of some of the nation’s most influential Black artists, discuss the Spirit of Detroit and experience the grandeur of the majestic Guardian Building. Whether you’ve lived in Detroit your whole life or are visiting for the first time, this tour will show you why Detroit is the only city in the U.S. to be named a UNESCO City of Design.
Total Walking Distance = ~2 miles
Tour Duration: ~2.5 hours
Weather Policy:
Tours will occur indefinitely, rain or shine, unless a severe weather warning is issued by the national weather service on the date of the tour for the time of the tour. Weather related cancellation or ticket transfer requests will not be approved unless submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the event start time. If a severe weather warning or event causes the tour to be canceled, City Institute will offer to transfer participant tickets to another date or provide a refund.
