Detroit Policy Conference to examine city’s post-pandemic recovery

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s annual Detroit Policy Conference, the local business community will examine the city’s post-pandemic economic recovery — in person.
The conference is scheduled for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday at the outdoor Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre, located at 2600 Atwater St.
This will be the organization’s first major in-person business event since the pandemic struck last year.
At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in sessions on a diverse array of topics pertinent amid the pandemic, from the future of workplace and space and downtown development, business and neighborhood investment to hospitality and small business. Discussion on racial justice and social equity, along with the upcoming Detroit city election, will also be included.
Featured speakers and panelists include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Pistons Head Coach Dwane Casey.
Local business owners, including Bea Wolnerman, owner of Bea’s Squeeze, will take center stage for a panel discussion, during which they’ll share strategies for navigating the rapidly changing restaurant industry and discuss the future of Detroit’s restaurants.
The conference will conclude with a networking reception with Detroit City Council members and candidates.
