LIFT and the Department of Defense recently announced the launch of the 2024 Advanced Materials Challenge, which is designed for industry and academia from across the nation to develop and accelerate the delivery of innovative material solutions for DoD applications.
LIFT will hold two virtual sessions to answer questions about the selection, funding, and program management processes on Oct. 24 and Nov. 1.

Project submissions can be made by filling out the Advanced Materials Challenge Project Submission form here.
Proposals should focus on identifying an advanced material of interest to DoD, design using decision aid tools and automation tools (i.e. ICME, M&S, AI, LLM , ML, etc.), prototyping both virtual and physical material systems (i.e. Digital Twin), and demonstrating the material’s applicability in a DoD component or system.
Some of the below criteria will be taken into consideration when evaluating programs for funding:
- Project phases
- Project budget
- Proposed project timing
- LIFT high bay
