Metro Detroit community colleges will soon be getting a major funding boost through investment in a local initiative.
The Ballmer Group and Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation will invest over $30 million in Detroit Drives Degrees Community College Collaborative, an initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber.
The initiative partners with seven area colleges to provide equitable access to college education and quality employment in southeast Michigan.
“D3C3 is about transforming our talent pipeline through innovative partnerships with local community colleges that are uniquely positioned to help students enter the workforce with the qualifications employers need,” said Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy Baruah.
The Ballmer Group seeks to promote increased economic mobility and opportunity for children and families, according to its website. The group provides funding to relevant organizations nationwide, including a focus on southeast Michigan.
The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation honors the legacy of its founder Ralph C. Wilson Jr. through community investments in southeast Michigan and western New York, its website stated.
The investment will be announced Monday afternoon at the Detroit Regional Chamber.
