Recognition of Sandy Pierce at the 2024 Mackinac Policy Conference

May 30, 2024

Sandy Pierce was recognized for her inspiring and trailblazing career on stage during the 2024 Mackinac Policy Conference.

Baruah and Torgow presented the recognition on May 30 in Grand Hotel’s Theatre, briefly detailing Pierce’s 40-year career in banking.

Having served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors for several years, including on the Executive Committee and as Chair from 2009-2010, Pierce has played an influential role in guiding the organization through tough economic times, including when the Chamber’s former Chief Executive Officer, Richard Blouse, retired. She also served as the 2009 Mackinac Policy Conference Chair and on the selection committee to hire Baruah in 2010.

As a Corporate Board Executive, CEO Advisor, and Community Strategist, Pierce resents “retirement” and is redirecting her energies and talents to a host of other roles.

“She is a force of nature, she’s become a dear friend…and she has an amazing story and history,” Torgow said. “She’s kind, friendly, loving, and she cares. Her entire career has been built on doing good things for people.”

During the Conference, attendees were given challenge coins featuring Pierce, along with Daniel J. Loepp and Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), who were also honored for their esteemed careers and partnership with the Chamber. These challenge coins were designed as reminders to be inspired by these leaders’ characters when doing business.
